From PC Mag: Apple will reportedly soon launch MacBook Pros with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
As Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports, the new models, codenamed J714 and J716, will retain the current MacBook Pro’s design but deliver faster processors. The last MacBook Pro update came with the base M5 chip for the 14-inch variant in October.
Gurman doesn’t provide an exact timeline for the release of the upgraded models, but says they are expected to coincide with the rollout of macOS 26.3 in February or March. Signs of an "imminent" launch, however, include reduced supply and delayed shipping of existing top-end MacBook Pros. This is typical when Apple nears a launch, and the company may already be stocking its warehouses with the new models, he adds.
Meanwhile, multiple analysts have suggested that Apple is working on an OLED MacBook Pro. Gurman reported last month that it could arrive toward the end of 2026 alongside a design overhaul for the lineup. Rumors have also surfaced about a touch-screen MacBook Pro, but that’s not expected to enter production until late this year.
Other launches expected by Gurman this year include a new Apple Studio Display and the M5 MacBook Air. The Studio Display last received an update in 2022, and Gurman expects an upgrade in the first half of this year.
