From PC Mag: Apple is rumored to be making a fresh, extensive push into the smart home market, with a new home hub speaker expected soon. A new report claims Apple will soon sell an ecosystem of smart home accessories, made in partnership with LG.
According to sources familiar with Apple’s plans, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the devices will include a doorbell, a smart lock, and a thermostat.
The report says there will also be a series of security cameras, with different models for either indoor or outdoor use. At least one version is expected to have a floodlight, although it’s unclear how many different camera variations there will be.
According to the report, the gadgets will be made through a first-of-its-kind partnership where Apple and LG work together on development. However, it says the devices will eventually carry LG branding when sold. These gadgets may be specifically tailored for an Apple smart home setup or sold through the brand's own stores.
