From PC Mag: Putting a case on a smartphone is usually as easy as pushing it into place, but it's more difficult with a foldable phone. Apple has introduced a hidden software setting to help you adapt if an accessory doesn't perfectly align with its new design.
A new feature called Shift Left Edge was spotted in iOS 27 by blogger Nicolas Lellouche during last week's iPhone event, before MacRumors later reported on it. A video from Apple's event shows the feature turning on and off through a toggle within its settings.
The description within iOS 27 reads, “Moves content when you are using a case that partially covers the left edge of the outer display of your iPhone.” Turning it on then makes the left-hand border roughly twice as thick as it normally would be, although the bezel remains slim overall.
The idea is to give more black space for a case to hold onto the left-hand edge of your phone, so you won’t lose any of the picture from the outer display to an encroaching accessory.
