Meta Debuts Instagram Edits on Mac With Support for 4K Exports, AI Agents

From PC Mag: The Instagram Edits video-editing app is expanding its footprint with a dedicated macOS app that can help create videos for any platform, including YouTube.

Instagram Edits for Mac supports any Mac running Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Though not as polished or advanced as Apple’s Final Cut Pro, the macOS version offers a full multi-track timeline, trimming tools, more precise color and audio controls, and keyframes for dynamic transitions. There’s also support for multiple vertical and horizontal aspect ratios, watermark-free 4K exports, and AI agents via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

If you have saved Look-up Tables (LUTs) and font styles on a separate device, you can import and use them on the Mac app as well. All audio and text styles you saved on mobile, meanwhile, will already be available when you launch the Mac app, Instagram adds.

For quicker edits using these tools, you can also set up your own keyboard shortcuts. Additional perks include Instagram's licensed and royalty-free audio libraries, hundreds of sound and video effects, and automatic captions in multiple languages.

Overall, the app is designed to assist “your most ambitious projects,” Instagram says. Once you’re done, you can export videos watermark-free to any platform you like. For Instagram, particularly, the uploads can be completed with native features such as tags and location.
