Microsoft Teams can soon snitch on your location using Wi-Fi connections

From PC World: For better or worse, Microsoft Teams is one of the most important communication apps in the professional world. It’s used by millions for chat messages, video conferences, and sending files. Now, according to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, Teams is getting a new feature in February 2026 that few people are going to like—and it’s bad enough that it’ll likely raise concerns among data protectionists.

The new feature is described as follows:

“When users connect to their organization’s Wi-Fi, Teams will soon be able to automatically update their work location to reflect the building they’re working from. This feature will be off by default. Tenant admins will decide whether to enable it and require end-users to opt-in.”
