From PC Mag: Fitbit is finally debuting a true successor to the Editors’ Choice-winning Charge 6. Called the Fitbit Edge, the company’s latest fitness tracker has a touch screen as well as a physical button for controls. It tracks activity, exercise, sleep, stress, and individual health metrics, including heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and resting heart rate. At $179.99, it’s roughly $20 more than the $159.95 the Fitbit Charge 6 was at launch.
Alongside the Edge, Google announced an update to the screenless Fitbit Air ($99) with improved automatic working tracking and the preventative Health Guardian features launched with the Pixel Watch 5 ($399). These features are also on the Edge, which is available for preorder now and launches on Oct. 27. If you’re weighing a purchase, here’s everything we know about the Fitbit Edge.
The Fitbit Edge slots into Google’s wearable lineup between two other devices that launched this year. The Google Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch sits at the top with proactive Gemini capabilities, all current Wear OS features, full Fitbit integration, and robust third-party app support. The Fitbit Air is a budget-friendly, screen-free band focused primarily on health tracking, comfort, and long battery life. When the Air launched this spring, it was the first new Fitbit-branded device since the Charge 6 debuted three years ago.
