From PC Mag: The iOS 27 software update is out now, and it brings some interesting Apple Intelligence capabilities to Home-compatible security cameras. To unlock the features, though, you’ll have to spend $9.99 for one camera, $29.99 for two, or $59.99 for five.
If you’re wondering why the price jumps as you add more devices, there’s a simple reason. Apple doesn’t offer a standalone subscription for its Home camera AI features. Instead, they’re directly tied to your iCloud+ storage plan, and the larger the plan you buy, the more cameras you can use with its AI features.
As MacRumors reports, Apple’s AI features for one security camera are unlocked with the 2TB iCloud+ plan; two cameras require the 6TB plan; and five cameras require the 12TB plan. If you have the $40-per-month Apple One Premier plan, you’ll be able to add just one camera, since the subscription only offers 2TB of storage.
Apple first teased iOS 27’s new AI-powered Home camera features at WWDC 2026. With Apple Intelligence, the Home app on your iPhone can generate AI descriptions for recorded clips from compatible cameras. This means you can receive summaries of events that took place in your backyard throughout the day.
