From PC Mag: Some users who just stumped up $2,000 for the latest iPhone Duo may be having a very bad day.
Users on social media are complaining about cracks appearing in their new iPhone Duos, Apple’s first foldable phone, which was released on Friday amid widespread supply shortages. Numerous users on social media like Reddit have dubbed the issue ‘crackgate.’ One user claimed the crack appeared on his iPhone after he had owned it for only six hours.
Apple has yet to officially comment on the situation, provide a technical explanation, or disclose how widespread the issue actually is.
9to5Mac notes that many users have successfully been able to get replacement devices by heading back to the Apple Store they bought them from, though users who bought from third-party telecom carriers (who don’t carry immediate stock) as part of their phone contracts are having less success.
It’s important to keep in mind that though Apple has yet to confirm sales figures, these issues may be happening to just a tiny fraction of the hundreds of thousands (or even millions) who have already purchased the Duo.
